People in Peterborough and Lindsay now have a new way to access mental health support. The Canadian Mental Health Association Haliburton, Kawartha, Pine Ridge (CMHA HKPR) has launched mental health walk-in clinics at its offices at 466 George Street North in Peterborough and 33 Lindsay Street South in Lindsay.
The clinics, which opened on February 3rd, operate Monday to Friday from 9 am to 3 pm, closing for lunch from 12:15 to 12:45 pm. They are designed for individuals 16 and older who are not already connected with CMHA HKPR but need support and guidance on accessing care. No appointment is necessary.
“This clinic is about creating a resource that allows people to have a real time connection with a mental health professional who can provide support and assist in helping people have information that is helpful to them as they access the mental health system,” said Tracy Graham, director of programs and services with CMHA HKPR.
The clinics are not intended for crisis situations or acute care. Those in crisis should contact the 9-8-8 National Suicide Crisis Line, and individuals needing emergency care should go to the hospital.
Unlike Peterborough’s Talk Now Clinic, which offers talk therapy, CMHA HKPR’s clinics focus on connecting people to a range of mental health services based on individual needs.
