With more than 850 kids lacing up the skates to play their favourite game, Peterborough Hockey Association president Mike Lain leads an organization that’s in the midst of a steady rebound from the COVID shutdown years.
Now in the second year of his two-year term, Lain has volunteered with association since 2014 as a trainer, coach, manager, convenor, director and vice-president of operations. Not unlike most all who give their time to the association, his initial involvement sprung from having two boys and a daughter who laced up the skates.
As president of an organization that boasts 25-plus rep teams and 60-plus house league teams, Lain juggles a lot of pucks but is quick to give credit to those he leads.
While saying he wants to make his mark as president, Lain says the growth of minor hockey and the association’s viability are the hallmarks of a job well done.
