Brock Mission’s planned development of a six-storey building that will house men and women transitioning from homelessness has moved a step closer to reality.
On February 3rd, Peterborough Mayor Jeff Leal exercised his Strong Mayor power to expediate the approval process for the proposed 52-unit building at 738 Chemong Road.
In addition, the mayor has directed city staff to prepare two bylaws for council consideration on February 24th – one bylaw to amend the zoning bylaw to facilitate the project and the other exempting it from the city’s site plan requirements.
Brock Mission board member Alan Wilson, the organization’s lead on the project, asked Mayor Leal to use his Strong Mayor powers to move the project along.
