
Peterborough’s newest public library branch will officially open its doors today inside the Miskin Law Community Complex on Lansdowne Street, offering expanded services and fresh resources for local residents.
The new branch, which replaces the previous South End location that closed a few years ago, aims to provide better access to library services in a growing area of the city, while complementing the main branch on Aylmer Street.
Library CEO Jennifer Jones says the process of bringing the new branch to life involved extensive planning, from acquiring new books and furniture to ensuring a seamless opening inside a busy complex that houses two twin pad arenas, as well as a walking track.
Audio PlayerThe new location operates as a full-service branch, meaning library cardholders can check out materials from either location and even arrange to have books transferred between branches for added convenience.
According to Jones, the goal is to make library resources more accessible to the entire community.
Audio PlayerOne of the standout features of the new branch is its emphasis on trending titles and youth-focused collections. Jones explains that the library has curated a selection of popular books, graphic novels, and large-print editions to cater to a diverse audience.
