
Doug Ford will once again sit inside the Ontario Legislature as Premier of Ontario. Ford won his third term in quick fashion, with local news outlets reporting his majority government win within minutes of the polls closing. His third term comes after a slight uptick in voter turnout, but, less than 50% of eligible voters filled out a ballot.
Locally, Progressive Conservative Dave Smith hung on to his lead over Liberal Adam Hopkins in Peterborough-Kawartha. Smith’s win was the closest of the three local Progressive Conservative candidates, beating Hopkins by more than 2200 votes.

Laurie Scott was the first to learn she was re-elected in Haliburton-Kawartha Lakes-Brock walking away with a decisive victory in a a riding that has now been blue the last five elections. The former Minister of Labour pulled in more than 50% of the ridings vote total with more than 26,000 votes.
The riding is comprised of City of Kawartha Lakes, Municipality of Highlands East, Township of Algonquin Highlands, Township of Brock, Township of Cavan-Monaghan, Township of Minden Hills, Municipality of Dysart et al.
