Voters across Ontario are casting their ballots today, with several key local races underway in Peterborough-Kawartha, Haliburton-Kawartha Lakes-Brock, and Northumberland-Peterborough South.
In Peterborough-Kawartha, Progressive Conservative incumbent Dave Smith is seeking a third straight victory but faces competition from Liberal Adam Hopkins, New Democrat Jen Deck, Green Party candidate Lucas Graham, New Blue’s Andrew Roudny, and Ontario Party’s Brian Martindale. The riding, home to about 98,000 voters, has been PC-held since 2018.
In Haliburton-Kawartha Lakes-Brock, PC incumbent Laurie Scott is defending her seat in a riding that includes the Township of Cavan-Monaghan. She faces challenges from New Democrat Barbara Doyle, Liberal Alison Bennie, Green Party’s Tom Regina, New Blue’s Jacquie Barker, and others. The riding has been a Conservative stronghold since 2011.
Meanwhile, in Northumberland-Peterborough South, incumbent PC candidate David Piccini is up against Liberal Dorothy Noronha, NDP’s Bruce LePage, Green Party’s Maxwell Groves, New Blue’s Joshua Chalhoub, and Ontario Party’s Florian Bors. The riding, with just over 94,000 voters, has remained PC since its current boundaries were established in 2018.
