A 76-year-old Lakefield man has died following a serious collision on Highway 7 in Otonabee-South Monaghan Township.
The crash happened on February 21 when an SUV attempted to cross from a business on the south side of the highway to the westbound lanes. An eastbound tractor-trailer was unable to stop in time and struck the driver’s side of the SUV, ejecting the driver.
Bystanders assisted until emergency crews arrived. The driver was taken to a local hospital before being airlifted to a Toronto trauma centre. Police confirmed today that he succumbed to his injuries on March 1.
