
A Lindsay man is facing multiple charges, including attempted murder, following a violent stabbing that left the victim in critical condition.
The Kawartha Lakes Police Criminal Investigations Branch had been actively searching for the suspect after the March 3rd, incident. Officers located him on March 5th at approximately 2:00 p.m. in the area of Queen Street and Lindsay Street North. Upon seeing police, the suspect attempted to flee on foot, but officers quickly contained the area and found him hiding underneath a parked vehicle.
Police arrested the suspect without incident and later identified him as 29-year-old Michael Thomas of Lindsay. An investigation revealed that Thomas had been released from custody on February 20th, and was bound by conditions on four separate probation orders. At the time of his arrest, he was also the subject of two outstanding warrants for failing to meet the conditions of his probation, theft under $5,000, and possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000.
Thomas has been charged with:
- Attempt to Commit Murder
- Breach of Probation (four counts)
He was held in custody pending a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Lindsay.
On March 5th, the victim was airlifted to an outside hospital, where they remain in critical condition.
