With St. Patrick’s Day on Monday and the city’s annual parade set for Sunday, Peterborough Police are urging residents to celebrate responsibly this weekend.
Police will increase patrols across Peterborough, Lakefield, and Cavan-Monaghan in anticipation of a higher volume of disturbance and noise complaints. RIDE check stops will also be in place throughout the day and evening to deter impaired driving.
The St. Patrick’s Day Parade will begin at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 16th, traveling along George Street from McDonnel Street to McGill Street. Road closures will be in effect from 12:30 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Chief Stuart Betts will be on patrol Sunday afternoon and evening.
Police are reminding partygoers to arrange a safe ride home, select a designated driver, or stay overnight if possible.
“Don’t leave your safety and the safety of others to the Luck of the Irish,” police said in a statement.
