A Trent University professor has been awarded a major international music prize.
Dr. Martin Arnold, a Trent cultural studies professor, was recently awarded the Open Ear Prize from Amsterdam’s Oscillating Air Foundation. He is just the fifth recipient of the cash prize, which celebrates composers who create music that forms a world of its own.
‘Martin Arnold’s music exemplifies a deeply personal and innovative approach to contemporary composition,’ reads the award announcement.
In addition to his cash prize, a dedicated concert of Dr. Arnold’s compositions will be held this November in the Netherlands.
