
Three people are facing multiple charges after a drug trafficking investigation led to arrests and search warrants in Peterborough, Ottawa, and Sault Ste. Marie.
The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau and Peterborough Police Service Drug Unit launched the investigation in the summer of 2024. On March 3, officers arrested a suspect during a vehicle stop, leading to searches at locations across the province. A second warrant was executed in Sault Ste. Marie on March 6.
Police seized approximately 635 grams of suspected fentanyl, 60 grams of suspected cocaine, $10,000 in cash, and four cellphones. The estimated street value of the drugs is $133,000.
Jonathan Morningstar, 31, of Ottawa, was charged with possession of property obtained by crime and possession for the purpose of trafficking fentanyl. He was released and is scheduled to appear in Ottawa court on April 17.
Antonio Williams, 30, of Toronto, was charged with possession of property obtained by crime and two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking. He remains in custody and is set to appear in Sault Ste. Marie court on March 31.
Kyle McLelland, 20, of Sault Ste. Marie, was charged with two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking. He also remains in custody with a court date in Sault Ste. Marie on March 31.
