The Peterborough Federal Liberal Association has acclaimed Emma Harrison as its candidate for the upcoming federal election.
A resident of Selwyn, Harrison is a third-generation farmer and small business owner. She operates her family farm alongside her husband, Connor, a Peterborough paramedic, while raising their children.
Harrison said she is committed to being a strong advocate for both urban and rural residents in the riding.
“I am thrilled to be the Liberal candidate for Peterborough,” she said in a statement. “I intend to be an MP who builds bridges instead of creating division, who understands that community has to come first instead of partisanship, and who will represent everyone, not just those who voted for me.”
Harrison also pledged to work alongside Prime Minister Mark Carney and the Liberal team to address affordability, job creation, and fair trade practices.
Lauren Hunter, chair of the Peterborough Federal Liberal Association, expressed confidence in Harrison’s ability to represent the riding.
“We are grateful to have such a thoughtful, caring, and practical candidate in Emma, and we are confident she will be an excellent representative for Peterborough,” Hunter said. “As our country faces unprecedented threats, now is the time to unite behind a candidate who can help build a stronger Canada.”
The federal election date has not yet been announced but rumours are swirling it might be unveiled on Sunday.
