The Peterborough community is mourning the loss of Lori Richey, who has passed away after a battle with cancer on March 23rd.
She was 57.
Richey dedicated nearly three decades to the healthcare sector, serving in key leadership roles that helped shape healthcare services in the region. Beginning her career at Fairhaven Long-Term Care in 1992, she spent 14 years as Manager of Human and Information Resources before transitioning to the Peterborough Family Health Team in 2006. Her passion for healthcare led her to become Executive Director of Primary Health Care Services of Peterborough in 2015, a role she held until 2020.
In 2023, she took on the role of Physician Recruiter for Peterborough County. Her contributions to the region’s medical community were widely recognized, and her leadership left a lasting impact.
PTBOTODAY.ca featured Richey as part of our ‘Community Builders Day’ feature series in 2020. A link to that profile can be found here.
Beyond her professional achievements, Richey was known for her adventurous spirit, love of travel, and passion for the outdoors.
Richey is survived by her children, Kyle and Travis, four grandchildren, and her extended family. A celebration of life will be held at Highland Park Funeral Centre on April 4th. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Big Brothers Big Sisters, an organization she supported for many years.
