Police in Peterborough are investigating after three Toyota vehicles were stolen from different locations in the city early Wednesday morning.
The thefts involved a 2022 Corolla, a 2024 Land Cruiser, and a 2024 Tundra. Two of the vehicles were taken from west-end neighbourhoods, with one stolen from the area of Woodglade Boulevard and Kawartha Heights Boulevard and another from Sandalwood Drive and Fair Avenue. The third vehicle was stolen from a residence on Park Street South.
In two cases, involving the Land Cruiser and the Tundra, police say the suspects smashed the sunroof to gain entry. Personal belongings and the vehicles’ GPS systems were later found several kilometres away. Authorities believe a black sedan was used in both incidents.
The stolen Tundra was successfully tracked, leading to the arrest of an 18-year-old from Saint-Sophie, Que., by police in Quebec. However, the Land Cruiser has not yet been recovered and was last seen travelling toward Highway 7. The Corolla was last tracked on Highway 115.
