As a result of the extreme ice storm and ongoing wide-spread power outages across the district, the Peterborough Victoria Northumberland and Clarington (PVNC) Catholic District School Board will be closing all schools and facilities in all regions, including the Catholic Education Centre, tomorrow (March 31) to students and non-essential staff.
While some areas of the district are less impacted, many staff live or work in severely affected communities, and system-wide closures ensure the safety of all.
School custodians, Principals and Vice Principals will inspect sites for the resumption of safe school operations and they will receive further direction specific to their responsibilities. All other non-essential staff are not required to attend school or the Board office.
Before and after school programs will be cancelled. Full-day childcare programs that operate within our schools will message families independently.
Given that many families in our district remain without power and may not be able to access email or phone reliably, we ask families and staff to assist in spreading this communication broadly.
