
Peterborough City and County Schools and child cares will again be closed on Tuesday across the Catholic and Public boards.
Officials with the KPRDSB say in consideration of continued power outages for schools, students and staff, the declared State of Emergency within the City of Peterborough, ongoing clean-up and emergency services work, and active power restoration efforts in many communities, please note the following:
All Northumberland County/Quinte West schools and child cares are CLOSED TUESDAY, APRIL 1.
All Peterborough City and County Schools and child cares are CLOSED TUESDAY, APRIL 1.
All the schools identified for closure will remain closed tomorrow for the day, including those that currently may have power, and/or even if power is restored at sites later this evening or overnight. All Education Centres will be open.
Officials with the PVNCCDSB released a statement just before 5 p.m.:
This decision was made following a thorough assessment of our school sites and local conditions, which continue to be affected by widespread power outages, hazardous debris, and unsafe road conditions. We understand the challenges that school closures create for families, and we appreciate your continued patience and understanding as we prioritize the safety of our students, staff, and school communities.We will continue to monitor the situation closely and provide an update tomorrow regarding the status of schools for Wednesday, April 2nd.
