A 26-year-old Brampton man is facing charges following an incident at Lansdowne Place mall Monday evening that involved an alleged weapon.
Police were called to the mall around 8 p.m. on April 7 after reports that a man had re-entered the premises after closing and was seen attempting to take items from a kiosk. When confronted by security, the man allegedly brandished a metal tire jack handle and fled.
Officers located a suspect nearby and took him into custody without injury. A tire jack handle was seized during a post-arrest search.
Police say the man was also wanted on a Canada-wide immigration warrant.
He is charged with break and enter with intent to commit an indictable offence and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose. The accused remains in custody and is scheduled to appear in court Tuesday.
