FEDERAL ELECTION: Heather Ray focused on creating a movement while heralding the party’s platform

As the federal election looms closer by the day, Peterborough-Kawartha NDP candidate Heather Ray says it’s all about building momentum and, on that front, she’s pleased with where things are at.

A mom and farmer who has a Masters in international public policy, Ray was acclaimed as the party’s local candidate back in January. Since then, the Douro-Dummer native has been hard at it, speaking to the party’s platform while meeting as many voters as she can.

Ray says she’s also hearing words that are ‘less inspiring.”

Ray is hopeful that her rural roots will help her connect with voters in outlying areas where the Conservatives have typically done well.

As for the weeks leading up to the April 28 election, Ray says she will meet voters not only where they are, but also host grassroots events that bring people together.
