Jazmine Raine may have been a little late to the party but they are quickly making inroads as the Green Party candidate for federal election.
An academic and artist, Raine was appointed the local candidate by the national Green Party on the basis of being the first to file nomination papers. They have since been meeting voters at every opportunity.
Raine says their motivation to run stemmed from a long-held interest in politics, academically and personally.

Audio PlayerRaine is being assisted during the campaign by Lucas Graham, who was the local Green Party candidate in the recent provincial election. Raine says the days leading up to April 28 election will see her continue to meet voters where they’re at.
