A 24-year-old Peterborough woman wanted on several outstanding warrants was arrested Wednesday evening following a shoplifting complaint in the city’s downtown core.
Peterborough Police say officers responded around 8:10 p.m. on April 9 to reports of a shoplifter near Charlotte and Aylmer streets. The woman was detained for questioning, during which officers learned she was wanted on multiple warrants.
Police say the woman attempted to flee upon learning about the warrants but was quickly apprehended. During the arrest, she allegedly resisted and fought with officers.
She now faces several charges, including robbery with theft, two counts of failing to comply with probation, two counts of failing to attend court, failing to comply with a release order, escaping lawful custody, and resisting a peace officer.
She was held in custody and appeared in court on April 10th.
