A Flood Warning remains in effect across the jurisdiction of Otonabee Conservation, covering the Trent-Severn Waterway. Flooding of low-lying, flood-prone areas is ongoing and expected to continue into next week. With warm temperatures forecasted and the potential for 20 to 30mm of rainfall between Friday and Sunday, the risk of further flooding remains high. Current conditions pose a significant threat to public safety and property in affected areas.
However, the risk for local watercourses like the Ouse River, Indian River, and tributaries to the Otonabee River has been downgraded to a Flood Watch, as water levels and flows in those areas have decreased.
Residents throughout the region, including those near Kawartha Lakes, Otonabee River, and Rice Lake, are urged to stay alert and take necessary precautions to protect themselves and their property. Water levels can be monitored on the Trent-Severn Waterway, Water Survey of Canada, and Otonabee Conservation websites.
For updates on flood forecasting and warnings, visit the Water and Levels and Flooding page on the Otonabee Conservation website, where residents can also subscribe for direct alerts. The Flood Warning is set to expire on Thursday, April 24, unless an earlier update is issued.
