A 17-year-old from Curve Lake is facing several charges after a vehicle crashed into a light pole early Saturday morning in Peterborough.
Police were called to the area of White Crescent and Glenforest Boulevard around 4:15 am, where they found a vehicle running but unoccupied. Officers began searching the area and found two males in a nearby school parking lot. Police say both showed signs of impairment.
Further investigation revealed the vehicle had been reported stolen from Curve Lake earlier in the evening.
A 17-year-old male was arrested and charged with impaired operation by alcohol and drugs, impaired operation over 80, and theft of a motor vehicle. He also faces two Highway Traffic Act offences: failing to remain and having a blood alcohol level above zero as a novice driver.
The teen received an automatic 90-day licence suspension and a seven-day vehicle impoundment. He was released with an appearance notice and is scheduled to appear in court on May 26.
The second male was released unconditionally.
