Two individuals have been arrested following separate warrant executions by the Ontario Provincial Police Peterborough County/Northumberland Community Street Crime Unit in Bridgenorth.
Police say officers executed a warrant at a residence on Monday, where they located a man wanted on outstanding charges. The search also uncovered 16 grams of cocaine, digital scales, Canadian currency, and two saws believed to be stolen.
Gerald Arcand, 58, of Bridgenorth, was arrested and faces charges including possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000, and failure to comply with a release order.
A second arrest occurred during a traffic stop, where officers located a small quantity of drugs. Police say the driver was under release conditions not to associate with Arcand.
Julia McGugan, 49, also of Bridgenorth, is charged with two counts of trafficking-related offences involving cocaine and opioids, two counts of failing to comply with an undertaking, and two counts of driving while under suspension.
Both were held for bail hearings in Peterborough.
Police are asking for the public’s help identifying the rightful owners of the seized saws. Anyone with information is asked to contact Peterborough County OPP or Crime Stoppers.
