
Peterborough Public Health is reporting a slight drop in the number of local deaths attributed to the ingestion of poisoned drugs.
Five people died from tainted drug use in March – down from six deaths reported in February. To the end of March, 14 people have died from using poisoned drugs.
Meanwhile, Peterborough paramedics responded to seven drug poisoning-related 9-1-1 calls in March – up from four in February – while 26 hospital emergency room visits related to a suspected drug poisoning were made, up slightly from 24 visits in February.
