
Peterborough will host the 2026 TELUS Cup, Canada’s National Under-18 Men’s Club Championship, bringing elite youth hockey to one of the country’s most storied hockey cities.
Hockey Canada made the national announcement Wednesday, with local officials, Peterborough Petes representatives and hockey community members gathering at the Peterborough & District Sports Hall of Fame to mark the moment.
Mayor Jeff Leal says it is incredible news for tourism to the region.
Audio PlayerSet for April 20th–26th, 2026, at the Peterborough Memorial Centre, the tournament will feature six top-tier U18 teams from across the country, including the host Peterborough Minor Petes, who are making their national championship debut.
Leal says he always refers to Peterborough as the ‘Hockey Capital of Canada’.

Petes’ General Manager Michael Oke says within the hockey world, this tournament is extremely coveted.
