Peterborough’s New Canadians’ Centre has purchased St. James’ United Church and is now the owner of the historic building after years of being a tenant.
Since 2014, NCC has occupied space at the church, located at Romaine and Aylmer streets. It will now lease church space to tenants, including the St. James’ congregation and the St. James’ Players theatre troupe.
NCC executive Andy Cragg says the building’s purchase sends an key message to the community.
Audio PlayerCragg says not only is maintaining the building as a community space a priority, but the purchase allows NCC more flexibility.
Audio PlayerCragg praises St. James’ hierarchy for being ‘creative and pro-active on this.’
