Homeowners in Peterborough now have access to low-interest financing and expert support to help make their homes more energy-efficient through a new initiative called Better Homes Peterborough.
The four-year program is designed to help residents lower utility bills, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and improve comfort by upgrading insulation, windows, doors, heat pumps, air sealing, and other systems. Eligible projects also include solar panels, EV chargers, battery storage, high-efficiency water heaters, lighting, and electrical upgrades. Up to 30% of the loan can be used for non-energy-related improvements.
The program is open to owners of detached, semi-detached, and townhouse-style homes, as well as small multi-unit buildings up to three storeys in the city.
EnviroCentre and GreenUP will provide technical guidance and energy coaching throughout the retrofit process.
Details on eligibility and how to apply are available at betterhomesptbo.ca or by calling 1-888-284-9417.
