
A 35-year-old man is facing several charges following a domestic incident in Peterborough County that prompted a significant police response.
Officers with the Peterborough County detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police were called to a residence shortly before 8 p.m. on April 24, after reports of screaming and the possible presence of a weapon.
Due to safety concerns, police secured the area and contained the scene. The victim was located and removed from the residence to receive treatment from EMS.
The suspect remained inside until just before 11 p.m., when members of the OPP Emergency Response Team entered the home and arrested the man without further incident.
He is charged with assault with a weapon, assault causing bodily harm, three counts of assault, pointing a firearm, use of an imitation firearm while committing an offence, possession of an imitation weapon for a dangerous purpose, failure to comply with an undertaking, and three counts of breach of recognizance.
The accused was held for a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough.
