A $138,900 grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF) is providing crucial support for Kawartha Haliburton Victim Services in Lindsay.
MPP Laurie Scott visited the Kawartha Lakes OPP Detachment on Friday to discuss how the grant, awarded in early 2023, has helped the organization hire a full-time Intimate Partner Violence (IPV) Response Coordinator. This role provides essential services such as crisis intervention, safety planning, and emotional support for survivors of intimate partner violence.
The funding, part of the OTF’s Resilient Communities Fund, also covers key administrative costs and technical equipment, allowing the organization to strengthen its services and ensure long-term sustainability. Kawartha Haliburton Victim Services, a non-profit working alongside police and emergency services, offers 24/7 confidential assistance to victims of crime and trauma.
The Ontario Trillium Foundation invests in projects that promote healthy, vibrant communities across Ontario. In 2024, OTF funded over 1,000 community initiatives with a focus on building economic well-being, active lifestyles, and support for vulnerable populations.
