Canadians experiencing homelessness are still eligible to cast their ballot in the upcoming federal election.
Elections Canada says that if a voter does not have a fixed address, they can use the location of a shelter, drop-in centre, food bank, or another place where they regularly access services as their residential address. Proof of that address is required, which a staff member at the service location can provide by completing a Letter of Confirmation of Residence.
Voters must also present identification. If they do not have ID, another registered voter from the same polling station can vouch for them. Each person is only allowed to vouch for one other individual.
A full list of accepted forms of ID and additional voting information is available at elections.ca or by contacting Elections Canada directly.
