There are now three companies that have come into an agreement with the city and are able to run a ride-sharing service.
YDrive Ptbo, Vanbr and URide have all signed the Memorandum of Agreement developed by the Police Services Board, which is in place to govern transportation network companies until a consolidated by-law is drafted.
The Peterborough Police Service has been working with these operators to have their drivers licensed under the MOA, including background checks, fingerprinting and being given a card that must be displayed while driving.
Chief Scott Gilbert says it’s important for rideshare drivers to be licensed which allows police to be confident that our community will be safe when using this type of service.
