Trent University is working with Peterborough Public Health after a COVID-19 outbreak at Champlain College residence.
The health unit declared the outbreak yesterday, while Peterborough This Week says it is linked to an outbreak at Severn Court Student Residence, which is occupied by Fleming College students.
Students who live in Champlain College who are asymptomatic and have not been identified as a direct contact of a case will receive support as they remain in the residence. They’ll be attending classes remotely or online, and can pick up food exclusively at the Great Hall in the residence.
Champlain students will be prohibited from using other facilities such as the Athletics Centre, the Student Centre, library, and other spaces outside of their college. They also won’t be allowed guests in their rooms or common spaces of the residence.
Any students with COVID-19 currently residing on campus or identified as close contacts of someone with COVID are staying in the separate residence specially designated for isolation, and are getting support and services from both the university and Peterborough Public Health. They must remain in isolation until public health deems it’s safe to leave.
