Local first nations communities will join together next Tuesday to pay tribute to the children recently discovered at former residential school sites across Canada.
Hiawatha First Nation and Curve Lake First Nation will start with a ceremony at sunrise, before a walk at noon from Peterborough City Hall to Del Crary Park, where a sacred fire will be lit.
Residents and businesses between City Hall and Del Crary Park are encouraged to show orange in their windows to show support. The show of support is being held on August 3rd, the 215th day of 2021 to honour the 215 children found at a former Kamloops residential school in June.
