Peterborough runs deep in sports history, with the Lakers and Petes usually at the forefront of the conversation, but the history in this city goes well beyond lacrosse and hockey.
Peterborough has produced many well-known athletes in several other sports as well and all the proof of that can be found inside the Peterborough and District Sports Hall of Fame, one of the many hidden gems in this area.
The PDSHOF features items dating back as far as the 1800s, featuring items ranging from old hockey skates and equipment to a collection of lawn bowling balls that were used by Sir John A. MacDonald when he was passing through Peterborough.
All of the items are nicely displayed inside cases that were given to the PDSHOF from the Hockey Hall of Fame, when they moved from their old location at Exhibition place in Toronto to their current home on Yonge St.
Aside from the amazing artifacts and fantastic stories that go along with them, one of the best parts of this hidden gem is that it’s free. The Peterborough and District Sports Hall of Fame is located inside the Peterborough Memorial Centre.
