The alarming state of Peterborough’s ongoing opioid poisoning crisis is reflected in the latest figures compiled by Peterborough Public Health.
Two people died from drug poisoning in November, bringing the number of opioid-related deaths this year to 56 with December figures still to come. In 2021, there were 44 opioid-related deaths.
Since December 2021, someone has died from a drug poisoning every seven days.
In addition, paramedics responded to 15, 911 drug poisoning-related calls in November and 34 emergency room visits were made during the month, bringing the total treated at PRHC this year to the end of November to 550.
