Both the Peterborough Police Service and Chief Stuart Betts have taken to Twitter to express their condolences over the tragic March 16th shooting deaths of two Edmonton police officers.
Chief Betts tweeted ‘On behalf of the men and women of @PtboPolice, please accept our deepest condolences to the friends, families and colleagues of the 2 @edmontonpolice officers murdered in the line of duty while bravely serving their community. They truly are #HeroesInLifeNotDeath.’
The service echoed that sentiment, tweeting ‘The Peterborough Police Service is saddened to learn of the deaths of two Edmonton police officers while responding to a call for service this morning.’
The flags outside the Peterborough police station are at half-mast in the aftermath of this latest tragedy. Since September of last year, seven police officers have been killed in Canada during the course of their duties.
