A Ceremony was held last Thursday at the OPP General Headquarters in Orillia to celebrate the graduation of experienced officers.
Collectively, these officers have 130 years of policing experience that will be a great benefit to the OPP’s detachments and the communities they serve. Coming from various police services across Canada, the officers have a wealth of knowledge and experience to offer.
Chief Superintendent Dwight Peer, Commander, Central Region, Ontario Provincial Police says working with community partners and stakeholders to ensure public safety through a collaborative effort of crime prevention and law enforcement is at the centre of policing in Ontario and the combined 130 years of experience that these officers bring to detachments in Central Region is invaluable.
The OPP is now looking to recruit experienced police officers as part of their Experienced Police Officer program. This program recognizes the expertise of professional and qualified police officers who are looking to join the OPP.
Police officers who have been serving or have served in another Canadian police agency within the last two years can apply directly to the OPP.
