Hamilton Park, located at 575 Bonaccord St., has recently unveiled an exciting addition to its recreational offerings. A brand new splash pad is now open to the delight of residents and visitors alike.
The newly installed splash pad at Hamilton Park boasts a range of captivating spray features, designed to provide a fun and refreshing experience for children of all ages. This small-scale water play area complements the existing amenities of the community park, which include a playground, a basketball court, and a disc golf course.
In 2021, a community consultation was conducted by City officials to gather feedback from residents regarding the desired features for the splash pad. Taking into consideration the suggestions and preferences voiced by the local community, the City staff diligently worked to bring the envisioned water attraction to life.
Councillor Lesley Parnell, Chair of the Arenas, Parks, and Recreation Portfolio, expressed her enthusiasm for the new addition to Hamilton Park. “This splash pad is a beautiful addition to Hamilton Park,” she said. “It provides a perfect place for young families to have fun and cool down in the summer. Being outdoors with friends and family is key to everyone’s well-being, and a building block to a thriving community.”
The splash pad is an ideal destination for children seeking relief from the scorching summer heat. The City of Peterborough now operates a total of seven splash pads throughout the area, offering youngsters the opportunity to enjoy cool water play during the summer season. These facilities typically open from June to September, between 9 a.m. and 8 p.m. daily, weather permitting.
