With the first half of 2023 almost in the books, Peterborough County Warden Bonnie Clark says much work has been to the benefit of rural residents but a checklist of things to do remains.
Reflecting on the year to date, Warden Clark says wider county access to broadband services has been ramped up considerably.
Warden Clark notes the rate of population growth has brought home the need to move, and move fast, on providing better service in a wide range of areas such as paramedic coverage and infrastructure improvements.
Looking ahead, Warden Clark says besides the pressing need to complete the ongoing overhaul of the James Gifford Causeway across Chemong Lake, lobbying for a community health centre is in the bull’s eye along with the completion of an updated strategic plan.
Warden Clark adds the ongoing promise of VIA Rail service in the region remains just that – a promise – but if and when it becomes a reality, she wants to ensure there are stops here as opposed to simply a corridor.
