Trent University’s Jalynn Bennett Amphitheatre is host to a series of free summer concerts.
The performance space, located in the courtyard of Traill College, is presenting the William and Nona Heaslip Music on the Hill series, with free concerts staged every other Thursday. The first on June 13th, featuring jazz band Carpe Noctem, was scrubbed due to a tornado warning, but the series will resume on June 27th with the Peterborough Symphony Orchestra Chamber Ensemble.
Traill College president Michael Eamon says with Trent marking its 60th anniversary this year, the concert series comes at the perfect time.
Eamon says support of the concert series by the Heaslip Foundation is especially meaningful.
Eamon notes with the number of local music venues that have closed in recent years, the amphitheatre space is filling a void.
