The City of Peterborough’s Social Services Division has earned Rainbow Registered accreditation, signifying its commitment to fostering a safer and more inclusive environment for the 2SLGBTQI+ community.
Administered by Canada’s 2SLGBTQI+ Chamber of Commerce, this accreditation evaluates organizations based on their non-discriminatory policies, diversity and inclusion training, leadership in LGBT+ inclusion, and inclusive organizational culture.
“Inclusion is a core value of our Social Services team,” stated Councillors Alex Bierk and Keith Riel, Community Services Portfolio Co-Chairs, in a joint statement. “The Rainbow Registered designation reflects our commitment to respectful and welcoming programs for both staff and visitors, ongoing support for employee equity, and enhanced cultural competency.”
This recognition follows the Peterborough Museum and Archives’ announcement of its Rainbow Registered accreditation in June.
