Peterborough County has partnered with Cambium Inc. to update its Waste Management Master Plan (WMMP), aiming to align with new legislation and principles like extended producer responsibility programs and the circular economy. The new plan will replace the 2012 version, enhancing waste services, optimizing systems, and preserving landfill capacity.
Residents are encouraged to participate in shaping the updated WMMP by attending one of two Virtual Open House meetings on July 25th at 10:00 am and 7:00 pm. These sessions will include presentations on the plan’s goals and performance of waste services over the past decade, followed by a Q&A session for community input.
Peterborough County emphasizes the importance of resident engagement, inviting all interested individuals to contribute by attending the meetings or completing an online survey. The county’s goal is to develop a sustainable waste management system that benefits both current and future generations.
