After a five day layoff from game action, the Peterborough Petes (0-2) are back on home ice tonight, searching for their first win of the season as they host the undefeated North Bay Battalion (2-0).
The Petes lost their home opener against Kingston last Thursday, followed by a 4-0 loss in North Bay the next night.
Despite those losses, Head Coach Rob Wilson remains optimistic, noting the energy and excitement among his players.
Wilson says the team’s success will come if they can stay out of the penalty box.
Although they were shut out against the Battalion on Friday, Wilson was pleased with the overall effort in North Bay, notably from 16-year-olds Colin Fitzgerald and Blake Gowan, who stepped up and showed their willingness to stand up for the team during a heated moment in the second period
Tonight is also Pride Night for the Petes, with themed jerseys being auctioned off online until Sunday night in support of Sport a Rainbow. You can listen to Peterborough Kia Petes Hockey on Freq 90.5 with coverage beginning just before 7pm.
