An annual celebration of all things reading returns to Peterborough Square this month.
With the theme ‘Learn o Be Green Together’, Peterborough Family Literacy Day will be held January 25th, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., featuring interactive literacy activities and a free book for each child.
The event will also see the return of Readers’ Theatre featuring a shared reading by local dignitaries, a performance by fiddle musician Irish Millie, and Drag Queen Story Time featuring Betty Baker and Butch.
Serving as honourary chair and emcee is Paul Rellinger. He says the event’s goal is to foster and encourage kids’ love of reading.
Rellinger still recalls clearly a defining moment that set him on a lifelong love of reading.
The event, says Rellinger, coincides with National Family Literacy Day marked annually in late January.
