What was staged as a one-off in March 2020 has evolved into what has become Peterborough’s marquee annual musical event.
That was the word Wednesday from United Way of Peterborough and District CEO Jim Russell during an event announcing details of Peterborough Performs V, a United Way-sanctioned fundraiser for partner agencies providing shelters and homelessness relief.
Set for March 26th, 7 to 11 p.m., at Showplace, and emceed by Jordan Mercier of Oldies 96.7/Freq 90.5 FM, the event features 14 local music acts, including Georgia Rose who was on hand, performing on two stages as well as an affiliated virtual auction.
Russell says the current campaign is just $27,000 shy of its goal of $1.5 million goal. He’s hopeful the fundraiser will push it over the top.
Audio PlayerRussell, who has attended each Peterborough Performs, says he has heard nothing but good things from those who attend.
Audio PlayerRussell adds with current state of national and world events, Peterborough Performs offers a welcome respite from all the noise.
Audio PlayerPeterborough Performs has raised $110,000 to date. Tickets cost $50, with two tickets priced at $80, and are available at www.showplace.org and at the box office. Meanwhile, visit www.uwpeterborough.ca for the auction link.
