
A 52-year-old Lakefield man has been charged in connection with a collision that killed one pedestrian and injured another last fall.
Peterborough Police say an 81-year-old woman and an 86-year-old man were struck while crossing Queen Street at Concession Street in Lakefield around 5 pm on October 21. The woman was airlifted to a Toronto hospital, where she later died from her injuries. The man was also injured in the crash.
Following an investigation, the driver has been charged under the Highway Traffic Act with careless driving causing death, careless driving causing bodily harm, and failing to yield to a pedestrian.
He is scheduled to appear in court on May 26.
